Protecting Students Travelling into Singapore | Angela Cauilan

Value for money. Environmental impact. Corporate governance. Operational sustainability is at the heart of organisations’ long-term growth prospects and service commitments to customers. At PSB Academy – one of the first six private education institutions to achieve the full 4-year EduTrust certification in 2010 – corporate governance and fiscal responsibility policies are integrated with the long term view on social and environmental impact.

Our procurement lead, Angela Cauilan, centrally manages procurement orders across the Academy while ensuring compliance with legal regulations and our internal policies, such as procurement process, compliance audit and approving authority. This ensures services to our students remain cost-effective and accessible, while at the same time considering the workplace health, safety and environmental impact of our purchases. Our robust procurement process is also vital to our fiscal health and compliance, providing our learning and teaching community with assurance on our commitment to deliver quality education.

In early 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic began to spread globally and Singapore implemented border control measures, Angela took the lead in monitoring the frequent Immigration & Checkpoints Authority updates, so that frontline staff could ensure affected students across more than 50 nationalities receive accurate advice on the latest requirements in a timely manner. The challenge of keeping on top of the latest border control measures cannot be understated – fluid and rapidly changing scenarios have resulted in the easing or tightening of restrictions across countries or even cities at short notice.

Together with both the Student Affairs and the Administration teams, Angela also oversees the Student’s Pass entry application and Stay-Home Notice list. She implemented an automated notification system to internal stakeholders as part of our Academy’s ethos to innovate and enhance services for staff and student satisfaction. This function undergirds our ability to protect the health and well-being of our student community as they travel into Singapore from abroad.

Angela enjoys finding new productivity tools and integrating these in our process flows for productivity gains.
