I believe in learning new skills consistently to sharpen my knowledge in the areas of industry, business knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills which can add value to my career. The key areas that I aimed to further develop were my leadership ability and people management skills which were my requirements in searching for a well-structured MBA programme.

That is when I began researching extensively and found the MBA programme offered by the University of Nottingham in partnership with PSB Academy. What stood out for me about this MBA programme is the flexibility, curriculum, and the international perspective which I felt suited my career development skills in managing a multi-cultural and diverse international team to deliver results with strong business acumen to deliver results.

The flexibility of the MBA enabled me to work and study at the same time as each module had a week of block teaching which is held after working hours. Plus if work gets hectic, I am able to postpone taking that particular module and space out my studies. This allowed me to balance work, study, and my life effectively.

The modules offered were relevant to today’s complex business environment especially in the areas of digitalisation, disruptive technology and sustainability for organisations which helped me to understand the latest trends in the business world and finding new opportunities to add value in my role. In particular, the modules on managing people, business strategy and operational management were areas that I felt were beneficial in my career development.

The lectures were engaging, and I met many classmates from different industries, backgrounds, and experiences. Through our discussions during lectures and brainstorming new ideas during our group presentations I came to understand the different perspectives and priorities of various departments within an organisation such as sales, finance and compliance. I really enjoyed working and learning with my classmates and the ideas we generated, experiences in their workplace and the support for one another helped me to develop new ideas and perspectives which helped bring to life the concepts we learnt during our lectures.

Before taking up an MBA, the advice I would give to people who are considering it is that continuous learning requires time, money and personal commitment. That being said, it can be a very rewarding and fulfilling journey!
