Dhasaratha Raman Shiyam
Class of 2021
Certificate in Business Management,
PSB Academy
During secondary school, my family was very concerned that my mathematics was very weak. While I wasn’t getting very high marks for my other subjects, it was decent. When I received 14 points for my N-level, I was disappointed as I expected a higher grade. As a result, I could not get into a polytechnic, and I eventually enrolled in Higher Nitec in Cyber and Network Security in ITE.
After graduating from ITE, my results were not good enough to get into a polytechnic, and I realised that I wasn’t interested in the course I was pursuing in ITE. So, I began researching the courses that would interest me. While I was looking through the different private education institutions in Singapore, I came across PSB Academy.
I read about PSB Academy in a couple of articles and discussed it with my family and friends. The range of courses provided by PSB Academy is much more comprehensive than other private education institutions, which gave me more options. Furthermore, the academy also partners with renowned universities around the globe to offer degree programmes. The fees structure is also lower than other private education institutions. Hence, enrolling in PSB Academy would be the best choice for me to further my tertiary education. I chose a business certificate programme because studying business will open up many more different career pathways.
My educational journey may have taken a longer route from N level to ITE now at PSB Academy but studying at PSB Academy has made me aware of what I want to pursue in my education and career. I am planning to progress to a degree after I have graduated from my certificate and diploma programme. Having a degree will improve my job opportunities and prospects compared to a diploma. In addition, a degree from a renowned university will reflect well on my resume and help me stand out when applying for jobs.
Through PSB Academy, I can save a lot of time and get personalised teaching from the lecturer as the class size are smaller compared to a polytechnic. I would advise students graduating from N/O level to look at their interests and strengths and decide their studies accordingly. PSB Academy also has dedicated programme consultants who would advise on the various courses available and how it will help them decide their future career path.
