Class of 2024
Diploma in Media and Communications, PSB Academy

School of Business and Management

My educational journey has been full of twists and turns, but PSB Academy has been the key to unlocking a path that truly feels like my own. Before joining PSB Academy, I held an N-Level qualification and was working full-time in retail through ITE’s work-study Nitec programme in retail services.

During that time, I often felt ready for a faster pace and more focused learning. After several months, I spoke with my mother, who did some research and discovered PSB Academy which offers a more streamlined approach that feels right for me.

At first, I wasn’t certain of my path, but my mother reminded me of the passion I had for media from a young age. I created my first YouTube video at 7, mastered editing at 8, and by 9, I was already exploring website programming. Pursuing Media and Communications feels like coming full circle, reconnecting with the creativity and excitement that sparked in me as a child. Taking the leap to join PSB Academy turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I believe the biggest advantage of studying at PSB Academy is the efficiency and flexibility of the programmes. While others often find themselves taking modules that don’t directly relate to their career goals, PSB Academy’s approach feels purpose-driven, focusing only on what truly matters for our future careers. It makes me appreciate how streamlined the path to a qualification can be.

The structure at PSB Academy allowed me to advance quickly without sacrificing quality, giving me a head start compared to my peers. I was able to progress from N-Levels to Diploma in less than 2 years*.

My time at PSB Academy has been a whirlwind of growth and learning. One of the most important skills I picked up was learning to work effectively in teams. Through group projects, I’ve learned how to communicate with all kinds of people, even those who were challenging to work with. It has taught me patience and understanding, and how to lead and manage different personalities under tight deadlines. Time management has also become a huge part of my life, helping me stay on top of my studies while having enough time to pursue personal interests and part-time work. The more challenging the projects, the more prepared I feel to tackle real-world responsibilities.

Another highlight of PSB Academy has been the faculty. It wasn’t just one particular lecturer – all the lecturers here have been incredibly approachable, taking time after class to answer my questions, and they were also prompt when responding to my email queries. Their guidance extended beyond coursework, often offering advice on the next steps I could take in my educational journey.

Looking ahead, I’m planning to continue my studies with a Bachelor of Communication awarded by The University of Newcastle, Australia with PSB Academy after completing my National Service in 2026.

To students who are thinking about their next steps after secondary school, I’d say to consider your options carefully. For me, PSB Academy was a chance to break out of the limitations I felt elsewhere, and it’s given me the confidence to pursue a future that feels right for me.
