Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences, PSB Academy

School of Health and Life Sciences

Since young, I have always been passionate about sports and have always wanted to learn more about the human body. At 9, I started playing competitive badminton in zones/schools’ national. I also dabble in other sports areas like basketball, netball, and table tennis, and that is how my passion for sports started.

Prior to my education at PSB Academy, I was taking Applied Food Science at ITE College East. While it wasn’t a course I initially planned to take, I really enjoyed it and it has since then spurred me to pursue a career in health and wellness.

My career goal is to work as a physiotherapist as I am extremely passionate about helping others. The sports science diploma was a steppingstone for me to work my way into the industry. The well-rounded curriculum kept me engaged, and I enjoyed the diversity of the modules.

As a Rehabilitation Specialist, I currently work alongside physiotherapists to aid in muscle recovery therapy through various methods such as hotheal, shockwave, decompression, myofascial release and trigger point release. On weekends, I also conduct multisport classes for kids aged 18months to 7 years old to help them in their developmental skills and update parents about their progression.

My education at PSB Academy allowed me to navigate human anatomy better. I was able to understand the technicalities that came with my work. Studying a psychology module also allowed me to understand my patients’ behaviours better and communicate with them accordingly.

Taking a private diploma did not deter me from moving toward my career goals. In fact, I am looking forward to furthering my sports science degree at PSB Academy. I believe that studying this course will set a path for me to be able to study Physiotherapy and one day reach my goal of becoming a physical therapist.
