Class of 2024
Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology and Molecular Biology), La Trobe University

School of Health and Life Sciences

I have always wanted to major in biotechnology. After researching on the universities that offer biotechnology, I came across the life science programme offered by La Trobe University at PSB Academy. The deciding factor that made me enrol in this course was the numerous student stories and University’s reputation in the research field. From what I’ve gathered on the internet, La Trobe University is well-known for its life science courses, and the lecturers in PSB Academy are knowledgeable in the life science field.

My learning journey has been incredible so far. The modules are closely aligned to the major and expose us to the ever-changing life science industry’s needs. What I like most about this programme is the lab sessions, where I hone my lab skills and get to know other course mates whenever we are paired to work together. I am blessed to have lecturers that ensure students understand the concept being taught. Albeit their busy schedules, they are very responsive whenever a student has a question. I would like to thank Dr Charles Ong, Dr Alexis Chon and Ms Yee Hwee Wong for being great lecturers.

I never felt that studying in a private education institution in Singapore would put me at a disadvantage. The degree I am currently taking can be completed at a faster pace. As such, graduates can enter the workforce and contribute to the community much quicker. Moreover, the course is paced much faster; students are challenged to keep up with deadlines and cope with the workload. This trains us to multitask and manage our time effectively.

After graduating, I aspire to work in the medical field or do lab research. I believe the lessons at PSB Academy will provide me with the necessary skills to achieve my career goals.
