In order to open doors for my future career, I know I needed to gain advanced knowledge and technical skills in the subject that I have an interest in – that is, business and marketing.

What drew me to PSB Academy was the well-equipped facilities such as lecture theatres, classrooms, laboratories, and even common spaces. The school also partners with reputable global universities such as Coventry University to offer a degree without us going to the country to study.

Coventry University is a reputable UK University that has received various awards and accolades. This assures me that my degree with Coventry University will be recognised after I graduate and enter the working world. The business and marketing degree duration and schedule is well-paced and allows me to complete my degree earlier than my peers. In addition, the modules encompass in-depth industry-relevant knowledge and skills that will be valuable when I enter the working world.

I have also joined some student clubs, such as IPRS and Community Service Club, in which I have actively participated since my diploma. In addition, I have participated in some volunteer activities where I was able to help other people and at the same time meet new friends. All these have contributed significantly to the vibrant school life I had with PSB Academy.

Rina was previously enrolled in PSB Academy’s Diploma in Global Hospitality Management (DGHM) Programme.

Below are some of her experience and advice she has to share for graduating students looking to enter the corporate world:

How has the internship experience help prepare you for the corporate world?

The internship has really helped me to understand more about the corporate world. As I am approaching the final weeks of my internship, I have learnt that the working world is vastly different from school / college. In the working society, we have to learn to work both as a team and as an individual. A working adult has to be responsible for their own actions while back in school, my only worries were about scoring good grades for my exams. I feel that this internship experience has helped me mature into an adult and really prepare myself for the working world in the coming years.

What advice do you have for your juniors in DGHM before they embark on their internship journey?

My advice to them will probably be to prepare themselves mentally, in terms of being asked to work harder and be strong enough to work with the varying personalities in the team. Always be careful, be responsible and be reliable. It is really different from going to school, but you really have to experience it yourself to find out. Just experience it!
