I landed my first job when I was 18 and stayed in the same company for close to 3 years. At that time, I knew my work experience and education level could not call for a promotion or increment. Not to mention I wasn’t able to outshine myself from other applicants for a better career opportunity. Knowing that my working experience can be accumulated with time, the only lacking area was my education. That is when I decided to arm myself with higher education to overcome the Achilles’ heel in my career life.
I got to know PSB Academy through my friends who were alumni. The combination of individual assignments, group projects, and examinations caught my attention, as it will allow me to be equipped with multiple problem-solving skills. The course duration and class schedule enabled me to have adequate time to study while working. Compared to other institutions, I prefer the campus facilities and cleanliness, and the staffs were more friendly and helpful.
While deciding which course to take, I knew I wanted to study something related to management and sports! The sports and leisure management diploma was a perfect fit. It was a bold decision to take up a full-time study in a new sphere filled with fun elements. In this course, I learned more about health, which motivated me to do a career switch into the healthcare industry. After graduating, I managed to score a job in a cord blood bank as a client relationship executive. With accumulated working experience in the field, I was then headhunted by a molecular diagnostics company as a key account manager. Working in a start-up environment was challenging, and I discovered the gap in my competency. That was when I decided to take up a part-time degree in business and marketing with Coventry University to expand my skillset and stand out in the competitive job market.
The lecturers were industry professionals who shared their experience, allowing us to gain insights into the working world. During my business and marketing course, I learned how to conduct a robust research study and write a SMART marketing plan. The curriculum in contemporary issues and innovative change broadened my horizons with up-to-date content and critical acumens in the current business world. I also learned resume writing, personal grooming, and interview skills in the career preparation module.
My time as a student at PSB Academy has built me personally and professionally. I enjoyed the time spent in lectures, group projects, sports events, and volunteering work. I realised teamwork is the most crucial element in completing all the assignments, regardless you are studying or working. The experience encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone, which built my confidence to engage with people I meet. Academically, I got a top student award for my diploma and a first-class honour for my degree. After graduating from the business and marketing degree course, I was offered a senior role with better compensation. The next goal I have is to become an entrepreneur in the healthcare industry.
If you are still deciding where to pursue your studies, I will recommend PSB Academy. As time passes, the school has also continuously improved themselves in their facilities and curriculum. PSB Academy has a 15 million dollars City Campus at Marina Square, which provides a great learning environment. The curriculums are carefully planned with the industry needs in mind and are offered in full-time, part-time modes to cater to different learning needs. Not only do they provide support for current students, but students who have graduated were also able to join the in-house career fair to get a job opportunity. As a private education institution, PSB Academy recognises the importance of student experience in their learning journey from the beginning till after graduation.
