Can you tell me a bit about your background and educational journey before joining PSB Academy

I studied at ITE College Central, where I pursued a Nitec in Fitness Training from 2019 to 2021. I performed well in my finals and was offered a chance to continue with a Higher Nitec in Sports Management. Due to my good grades, I completed the programme in just one year, from 2021 to 2022.

How did you hear about PSB Academy, and why did you choose to study here?

I first noticed PSB Academy through ads on social media and had friends who were either interested in studying there or were already students. When I explored the courses offered, the Certificate in Sport and Exercise Sciences course caught my eye and the reasonable duration further solidified my decision to join PSB Academy. Impressed with the quality and support I received, I continued my academic journey at PSB Academy by pursuing my Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences.

Were your family & friends supportive of you studying at PSB Academy?

Yes, they were! Initially, there was some hesitation since it is a private education institution. However, once I explained the course structure, duration, and relevance of the curriculum, they became very encouraging and supportive.

Can you describe your study experience at PSB Academy?

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at PSB Academy. The class schedules were well-planned, allowing ample time for assignments and rest. The calm and conducive atmosphere made it an ideal place for studying. I highly recommend everyone to consider studying at PSB Academy!

What are some of the key skills & knowledge you have gained, and has it been useful?

I’ve gained a lot of confidence and learned effective time management. Although challenging at first, I gradually adapted. These skills have been invaluable in my daily life and at work, especially in understanding which exercises target specific muscles or strengthen bones.

Were there any challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?

Adapting to online exams was initially challenging as I was used to traditional paper-based exams. However, with the support of my peers and professors, I got accustomed to the digital format, which provided the convenience of taking exams from home and allowed more time to think and complete my papers.

After graduating from PSB Academy, what have you been up to? Was it easy to find a job?

After earning my Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences, a friend from PSB Academy recommended me for a job at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), and I secured a position as a Therapist Assistant within a month.

Can you describe your day-to-day work at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) as a Therapist Assistant?

I’ve been working as a Therapist Assistant for almost three months. It’s a unique and challenging job, treating and conducting exercises for patients with mental illnesses. I work office hours from Monday to Friday and see about 29 patients weekly. The physiotherapist diagnoses the patients, and I execute the recommended exercises. It’s a rewarding experience to help patients through their recovery process.

What are your future career goals?

I haven’t settled on anything specific yet but would like to remain in the sports industry or move into management. My current goal is to become a physiotherapist, though I’m still exploring my options.

Overall, do you think PSB Academy helped you achieve your personal goals?

Absolutely! While my friends are still completing their diplomas, I have already graduated and started working. Studying at PSB Academy gave me a head start and boosted my portfolio. This early start has allowed me to gain valuable work experience and the flexibility to reconsider my career path or pursue further studies.

What advice would you give to other students who are considering private education?

I would recommend private education for students still considering. It can save time, allowing you to complete your studies more quickly and giving you more opportunities to explore your options and gain hands-on experiences in the working world. PSB Academy has been instrumental in providing a quality education that has helped me get a head start in my career.
